Victor Hugo's Les Misérables is one of the Western literature's classics and the stage adaptation and the movies, like the one that came out in 2012, are all well-known and beloved. The strict police officer Javert is dutiful and blindly loyal to the law and he has many encounters (and as such, problems) with the protagonist Jean Valjean who doesn't fit his very black and white definition of morality and how the world functions. And the guy has some bitchin' uniforms, so naturally I decided to cosplay as him (the Russell Crowe version).
The beard and the moustache, by the way, are genuine.
I just put some grey and black on them to make them stand out more and be a better fit to the character as portrayed by Crowe.
Fun fact: I cosplayed Javert (this evening, in fact) in the Cosplay Ball and I was asked to take part in cosplay couple competition with Cinderella.
Too bad we didn't win and I didn't get to sing a happy victory song (I actually memorized all of Javert's songs from the movie). But hey, we were specifically asked to take part in the competition, that counts for something.
